Update targets and configuration Makefile, argocd-operator/hack/update-dependencies-script/README.md |
Three targets delegate full, Argo CD-only, and GitOps Promoter-only updates. The README documents updater locations, GITOPS_PROMOTER_VERSION, and REDIS_MIRROR_IMAGE. |
Argo CD dependencies and assets argocd-operator/hack/update-dependencies-script/argocd/main.go |
The updater synchronizes dependencies across both modules, copies CRDs and generates assets in the parent module, and refreshes its gitops-engine replace directive. Dex and Argo CD digest lookup errors stop the update. Redis lookup uses the configured mirror and leaves its digest constants unchanged if lookup fails. The updater no longer changes the Dockerfile’s Argo CD image or resolves the HAProxy digest. |
GitOps Promoter CRDs and bundle argocd-operator/hack/update-dependencies-script/gitops-promoter/main.go |
The updater reads the Promoter version from the Operator’s go.mod and rejects a conflicting environment override. It copies matching CRDs to the parent module, reconciles the CRD kustomization, and runs bundle generation there. |

Regenerate the bundle after copying GitOps Promoter CRDs.
config/manifests includes ../crd, whose kustomization lists these CRDs. The GitOps Promoter updater exits after copying them. The aggregate runner processes argocd before gitops-promoter, so its bundle generation runs too early. When the copied CRDs change, both workflows can leave the bundle stale. Run make bundle after the copy.

Question: Are we dropping the haproxy image here for a reason? It is the other image that we started pulling from quay recently.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
This is to avoid overriding the manually-configured newer version of haproxy:
// ArgoCDDefaultRedisHAProxyVersion is intentionally not derived from Argo CD's manifests:
// the operator deliberately pins a newer haproxy (3.3.17-alpine, built with OpenSSL 3.5)
// than the one Argo CD references, so that TLS curve preferences can be configured for the
// Redis HA proxy. Update that constant manually when bumping haproxy.

I meant, will this not cause the non-quay image to be used in manifests for haproxy? I agree with the version override, I am concerned this will skip the "registry override" for this one image. (I have not tested this)
There was a problem hiding this comment.
The script only updates the image tag not the image name. So if the haproxy image is quay.io/akuity/haproxy, it will not be changed by the script before or after this PR. The above changes in the PR skips haproxy processing, so whatever is already configured for haproxy will not change after running the script.

Merging master to consume #1461 |
…moved or removed Signed-off-by: Cheng Fang <cfang@redhat.com> Assisted-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
The GitOps Promoter updater copied CRDs into config/crd/bases and exited, while the aggregate update-dependencies runner regenerates the bundle in the Argo CD updater, which runs first. Copied CRD changes therefore never reached bundle/manifests. Run `make bundle` after the copy and propagate failures. Also harden the dependency update scripts: - Read the GitOps Promoter version from argocd-operator/go.mod instead of a hardcoded constant, and reject a GITOPS_PROMOTER_VERSION override that disagrees with the vendored controller, so CRDs cannot drift from go.mod. - Reconcile config/crd/kustomization.yaml with the copied CRD files and remove stale mirrored CRD files, so added/removed upstream CRDs reach the bundle. - Fail when no promoter CRDs are found, instead of silently copying nothing. - Make imageTagFromRef return an error for references without an explicit tag rather than defaulting to "latest". - Treat redis digest resolution against the quay.io mirror as non-fatal (with a REDIS_MIRROR_IMAGE override), so a lagging mirror no longer aborts the whole update.
