Breaking changes page of Lucee 9: COM objects (Jacob) moved out of the core to the COM extension, LDEV-6763.

  • createObject( "com" ) and <cfobject type="com"> are not supported anymore, use createComObject( className ) of the extension (https://github.com/lucee/extension-com)
  • releaseComObject comes with the extension
  • lucee.commons.jacob / lucee.runtime.com are gone from the core, the extension uses the official Jacob 1.21

Not done: the reference pages of releaseComObject (docs/03.reference/01.functions/releasecomobject) still describe the core function, they should move/mention the extension when it is released.

Looks good, clear migration path with before/after examples for script and tag syntax.

Two small optional points:

  • "the current official release of Jacob (1.21)": the extension uses the build published on Maven Central as io.github.osobolev:jacob:1.21, maybe say "Jacob 1.21 from Maven Central" so it matches the extension README.
  • The Markdown Lint failure is not from this PR, it comes from docs/03.reference/02.tags/http/tag.md, docs/recipes/scheduler-quartz-ai-job.md and examples/docker/quartz-ai/readme.md.
