Specify maximum notification latency

Sometimes the notifications seem to stay out forever until the user dismisses them by clicking.

Is there a way to specify a maximum time a notification can be displayed? For example of I want them to show for s maximum of 3 seconds. I believe the underlying systems do have such options.

Well, no, many platforms do not even support that. On Linux, it depends on the notification daemon; some will honor the setting, while others will totally ignore it (e.g., GNOME). Then there is Windows with short and long. On the Web, it is also not supported. So, all in all, not possible. If you want to see that on a specific platform, use the underlying libraries (e.g., for Windows).

@SmiX Yes, that is already an indirect dependency, so where needed, it can be made a direct dependency, already used anyway. This library wraps common features, and timeout is not one of them. And does not help that on Linux it is just a hint that many notification daemons ignore. Some also have settings for hover, some disable timeout on hover, some treat critical as persistent, that is, always visible, etc.
