fluent-apt-source (2026.10.29-1) unstable; urgency=medium

The default URI of package repository was changed
from fluentd.cdn.cncf.io to packages.fluentd.org.

Why: we want to know how Fluent Package is used, such as which
distributions, versions and architectures are popular. This helps us
decide which platforms to support and when to end support for old ones.
The new URI goes through scarf.sh (https://scarf.sh) to collect download
statistics, and then redirects your request to the same CDN as before
(https://fluentd.cdn.cncf.io).

What is collected: Scarf records metadata derived from your IP
address, such as coarse location, company and cloud provider.
It also records the type of client (apt, dnf and so on), basic OS
information and the requested path. The path shows the
distribution, version, architecture and package. Scarf discards
the raw IP address, and we cannot see it. Requests over IPv6 are
not counted. See the Scarf FAQ and privacy policy for details:
https://docs.scarf.sh/faq/
https://about.scarf.sh/privacy-policy/

Packages and their GPG signatures are not changed. They are still served
from https://fluentd.cdn.cncf.io.

If your network limits outgoing access, you may need to allow
packages.fluentd.org, fluentd.gateway.scarf.sh in addition to
fluentd.cdn.cncf.io.

If you do not want to be counted, replace packages.fluentd.org with
fluentd.cdn.cncf.io in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/fluent.sources.
Keep the rest of the URI. For example:

sudo sed -i 's/packages\.fluentd\.org/fluentd.cdn.cncf.io/' \
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/fluent.sources

We have no plan to stop serving packages from fluentd.cdn.cncf.io.

The new URI goes through scarf.sh (https://scarf.sh) to collect download
statistics, and then redirects your request to the same CDN as before
(https://fluentd.cdn.cncf.io).

What is collected: the Fluentd developers can see the type of client
(apt, dnf and so on) and the country of the request. We cannot see your
IP address. See the scarf.sh privacy policy for details:
