Bring back the pleasure of discovering that someone stopped by. A visitor could leave “Found your site through a friend — loved the train photographs,” and the author can choose to display it.
First version
- An optional guestbook page linked from the author's site.
- Visitors enter a display name and a short plain-text note, with a clear notice that approved entries become public.
- New entries remain private in an owner-only approval queue until approved.
- The owner can approve, reject, remove, or disable entries and can close submissions while keeping approved notes visible.
- Start with no visitor accounts, email collection, links, replies, or reaction counts.
Acceptance
- Captcha and submission rate limits prevent the form from becoming an easy spam endpoint.
- Pending and rejected entries never appear in public HTML, feeds, exports, or caches.
- Input is length-bounded and safely rendered; moderation is strictly account-scoped.
- Public entries are paginated and ordered predictably.
- The submission and moderation flows are accessible and usable on mobile.
- Test anonymous submission, throttling, validation, moderation transitions, ownership, disabled submissions, and public visibility.
This is the most operationally involved idea in the batch; moderation and abuse controls belong in the first release.
