Summary

BlockID is a network-based approach to identity verification and data sharing for financial and digital ecosystems.

The system is designed to:

  • Enable more efficient verification workflows
  • Support controlled data sharing between participants
  • Align with evolving regulatory expectations around interoperability and data usage

Checklist

  • Proposal file added under /proposals/
  • Milestones and funding amounts defined
  • Acceptance criteria included
  • Alignment with Canton priorities described

Notes for Reviewers

  • This document is intentionally high-level and omits all proprietary implementation details.

So you're aware, there's extensive work underway to define a standard for credentials and party metadata in Canton.

Data structure and overall architectural approach: canton-foundation/cips#204
Party profiles:canton-foundation/cips#169
Name resolvers (and imports from non-Canton naming systems): canton-foundation/cips#171
Unique issuance on-ledger: canton-foundation/cips#209

I expect an overall technical strategy doc integrating across these topics to be available in approx one month.
