Support collections, paths, etc. in the interpreter

Review the adaptions of the old interpreter that we used to support 
bidirectional associations, collections, etc. in the interpreter and check 
which of these we have to redo for the new interpreter. Some of the new 
elements (e.g. collections and paths) should be supported natively by the new 
interpreter, without the adapters.
