[UI request] Add user tutorial pop-ups to mothra landing page, IC, and Neon #181
Here's an example in Pixel.js in Rodan, where opening the window makes a tutorial pop up appear, which the user can choose to skip:
Screen.Recording.2026-08-10.at.12.42.56.mov
I think the tutorial pop-up can just be images and text. It can also be fairly basic, and include links to the more detailed documentation.
@kyrieb-ekat proposes that these tutorials appear when the user opens the mothra landing page, the IC, and Neon for the first time. @giannatan I would be super happy to make the Neon tutorial, and the other two if it can be useful!
this would be lovely! if you could write the text/flow of the neon and ic tutorials, that would be amazing (i can do the landing page one, once we figure out the flow/moving around the ic step)
@JoyfulGen somewhat related to this issue i suppose, but do you think having an "example"/starter project like neon does could be helpful? i'm thinking the general mothra-landing tutorial could use it to walk the user through some things (ex. what certain buttons mean, processing, etc)
I have thoughts! I have been thinking about a demo project/starter project that I could use for a demo, but dig the idea of a tutorial-starter project. I would be happy to pull together the basic elements of what it would need, though the additional fanciness (text guidance, popups or whatever) would need its own thinking/deciding etc.
yes! i'm thinking the "generated" files are all pre made, and it just exists to simulate what the user would do in a typical workflow. it would also be nice to make it very interactive, with text popups and arrows...
it's not urgent, but if you have extra time to put together the skeleton, i'd like to work on it if i can before the summer ends!
I'll give this some time today! I'll get you some images, separated stuff, predicted boxes, and an almost complete IC file (with the thinking the user could work with like 10 or so remaining unclassified neumes for the tutorial). Is there anything else you think I ought to also include? For Neon all it needs is the image and the .mei file, but if you or @JoyfulGen think other things might be helpful as samples or like, FAQ aides say the word/feel free to grab what you need.
