The README of the package says that Chroma 1.0.0 to 1.0.5 do not report the space of a collection, so the check of the space cannot be done there, and suggests Chroma 1.0.6 or later. On those versions a collection created without a space uses l2, and a cosine search over it gives the scores of the l2 distances without an error; on Chroma 1.0.6 and on 0.6.3 the provider throws, as the README says.
No change of code or version.
