GTK3 - WLX - PDF - Evince3

Evince3

When I went to compile this I can see a couple mentionings missing such as
evince-view-3.0
evince-document-3.0

GTK2 dubuild.md file shows = Debian 13 GTK3 dependencies
build-essential = build-essential
libgtk2.0-dev = libgtk-3-dev (nice consistent naming :)

libevview-dev = ? could not find equivalent
libevdocument-dev = ? could not find equivalent

I tried looking them up but it was said their were no equivalents?

These were the closest things I found but not -dev packages?
libevview3-3t64
libevdocument3-4t64

If I can figure this out, I will update this in the future.
If anyone knows the equivalents for these dependencies please let me know and I can give it test.

Where and how are you looking?
evince-view-3.0 & evince-document-3.0 by content > libevince-dev.
Or evince by name > evince > libevince-dev.

in theory, the api should be similar since its a fork and itmight be enough to replace the includes and pkgconfig, but I cant check it atm

Has the transition from evince2 to evince3 created many problems?

nothing changed much in terms of api, just more or less added text search to the gtk3 plugin. you can comment it out if its broken there. you can try compiling gtk3 plugin with atril instead of evince if needed. the only thing remember is that atril-gtk2 also needed webkit for epub, dunno how things are now there

I compared evince-gtk2 and evince-gtk3, there are too many differences, so I don't think I can do it :)

nah, these are just cosmetic changes. try changing the include lines at the top of the source code and pkg-config in the makefile

This was not in the list of dependencies required, I added to my suggested update list for the dubuild.md file
I have not been able to test it yet, but I was able to find this library libevince-dev

Ahh I forgot there was an Atril plugin, yeah only GTK2 version available.
Atril is one of the main applications I use if I need more of a standard style viewer (although it unfortunately is missing some desired features).
I noticed that Zathura was made into a GTK3 version, have not tried that one either, that application itself I believe is intentionally designed to not have that many features, so I do not think it would lend any basic toolbars with any basic tools like the other pdf plugins do.
As mentioned, I really liked how the wlxwebkit offers pdf viewer in the same plugin as web viewer, but that is the one with the blank page issues.

Again not sure yet if GTK3 version is going to work out, but I might still test out some of these other pdf viewers just to see how they function.
