Ability to list scratch orgs across machines

Consider this scenario:

User A creates a scratch org on machine A1. The same User A logs in with the same credentials and cli version from machine B1. The user would expect to be able to
sf org list and be able to see and open the scratch org created on machine A1.

There has already been a similar if not identical disussion over here

If this should not be possible or desired, it would be helpful to have a piece of documentation explaining how to work around it.

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

while we could make the CLI print some info about existing scratch orgs in B1 (query some ScratchOrgInfo records), it wouldn't be possible to interact with those scratch orgs without re-authenticating to them (which needs to generate a password for them).

When you create a scratch org via sf org create org the server returns a one-time auth code that we exchange for access/refresh tokens to persist the authentication in the CLI (that's why you don't need to do sf org login web after sf org create scratch).
In the example you mentioned, the A1 machine already used the one-time auth code so B1 can't do the auto-auth under the hood.
