Relation to `cddl-derive`

Hey, I was wondering what the relationship is betweencddl-codegen and cddl-derive (in the cddl repo). It looks like both are solving similar problems, curious if there's an opportunity to share backends? Do you expect this crate to support the same set of functionality?

cddl-codegen predated cddl-derive by many years

cddl-codegen was built with cryptography / distributed systems in mind, which means it has a high emphasis on round-trip deserialization (ex: convert a piece of CBOR to a Rust struct, sign it, then send it back without the bytes getting mangled). This also means the project is much more complex than cddl-derive internally (which was more built to leverage the simplest stack possible)

That is to say, they share the same backend in the sense that they both use the cddl crate for parsing. I think this crate supports a much wider set of functionality since we actively maintain it given code generated from it is used in a lot of production systems

This sounds intriguing. Is this more of a design goal or is there an explicit feature that makes it better suited in cddl-codegen?
