Please update the aws-lc dependency to ease distribution maintainership

Both the fix in aws/aws-lc#2042 and aws/aws-lc#2455 are required to get efs-utils on a modern build environment.

Since efs-utils still depends on an old version of aws-lc, both these patches have to be backported manually which is quite a nuisance due to the deeply nested directory trees and the need for patching the cargo checksums.

Is there any chance that the aws-lc dependency can be updated to a version that contains these two fixes?

Hi @glaubitz, efs-utils depends on aws-lc-fips-sys. AWS-LC FIPS 4.0 is tracking towards submission to NIST in the coming months. AWS-LC FIPS 4.0 will include both fix.

It's still not updated and I still have to pull in the fix from aws/aws-lc#2455 which wouldn't be so much of a problem if cargo didn't insist that one is not allowed to patch packages.

It's really annoying for downstream distributions having to deal with this.

@glaubitz - It looks like the latest release now uses AWS-LC-FIPS 4.
