Error after updating

I had successfully setup and was hosting an instance untill I went to update (option 1). After updating I got the following pop-up and the instance stops.

I've attached a screen shot.
Poking around the internet it seems this is a Proton issue? Any ideas on how to resolve?

I ran into this exact issue after updating. I changed occurrences of proton version 10-4 to 8-28 in the .sh files and now everything is working again.

I tried versions in 9-* and later version 10-* but got the same issues.

That worked! Made the change in ark_instance_manager.sh:
PROTON_VERSION="GE-Proton8-28" (was 10-4)
launched Ark Server Manager and selected option 1, downloaded the 8-28 version of Proton and launched the instance without any error. Worked great!

I had the same issue a while back. You can look at the closed issue #21 for the fix that got me up and running. Im still running 10-4 with no issues after the fix.
