The QIR specification suggests using 1) profiles (e.g., base and adaptive profiles) to list specific features of a target device (e.g., mid-circuit measurements) and 2) output schemas to determine how the results will be formatted when sent back to the middle-end (e.g., histograms). Although these concepts are well covered by the
QDMI_query_device_property_XXXroutines, I see two possible scenarios:The MQSS asks the device if it recognizes the concepts of profiles and output schemas using
QDMI_query_device_property_exists, and if it does, it usesQDMI_query_device_property_cfor each specific query. What should be done if the answer is no?The MQSS ignores the concepts of profiles and output schemas altogether and directly uses the
QDMI_query_device_property_XXXroutines for each query. How should we tackle this issue, considering we are advocating for the QIR specification?
